Caregivers need scheduled rest, may become unwell, and may take approved leave. Planning for those periods is part of maintaining a dependable care service.
Scheduled off-days
Your recurring schedule should make the caregiver’s regular working days clear. If you need care on an off-day, ask DarDoc in advance. Do not arrange it privately with the caregiver.
Planned leave
When leave is known in advance, the Care Team can discuss temporary cover or schedule adjustments.
Sudden illness or emergency
DarDoc may have less notice when a caregiver becomes unwell or faces an emergency. The team will check available cover and update you.
Temporary replacement
Every replacement assigned to Newborn Care must meet DarDoc’s core service standards. She is female, directly employed by DarDoc, NICU-trained, BLS-certified, medically tested, and has at least two years of newborn experience.
The replacement still needs a clear handover about your baby and home.
Keep coordination with DarDoc
Do not pay a caregiver directly or create a private side arrangement for additional hours. Contact the Care Team so the schedule, payment, cover, and responsibility remain properly recorded.
What parents should prepare for cover
Keep a short, current care summary that another DarDoc caregiver can understand. Include the baby’s routine, important instructions, parent contacts, supplies, and any recent change.
This does not replace a direct handover, but it reduces the risk of relying on memory during an unexpected change.
What if no suitable cover is available?
The Care Team should tell you what can and cannot be arranged. Depending on availability, you may be able to adjust the shift or discuss another option.
DarDoc should not place an unsuitable person merely to fill a schedule. The caregiver still needs to meet the service standards and be appropriate for the disclosed requirement.
