A DarDoc newborn caregiver provides practical, hands-on support based on an agreed care plan. The purpose is not to impose one parenting style. It is to understand your baby’s routine and help your family manage it more confidently.

Feeding support

Depending on your feeding plan, support can include:

  • Preparing bottles safely

  • Supporting paced or scheduled feeds when instructed

  • Burping and settling

  • Cleaning and organising feeding items

  • Recording or communicating feed information when requested

  • Bringing the baby to the mother for breastfeeding

  • Helping the mother settle comfortably for feeds

The caregiver follows the feeding instructions provided by the parents and relevant clinician. She does not change formula, feeding frequency, volume, supplements, or medical instructions independently.

Sleep and settling

Newborn sleep can be unpredictable. A caregiver can help maintain the family’s preferred settling routine, respond to the baby’s cues, and support a calm sleep environment.

No caregiver can guarantee that a newborn will sleep through the night. Safe care and responsive support take priority over a promised sleep outcome.

Hygiene and daily care

Support can include diaper changes, bathing, changing clothes, skin-care routines approved by the family, and keeping the baby’s immediate care area organised.

If the caregiver notices a rash, change in behaviour, feeding concern, temperature concern, or another unusual sign, she should inform the parents. Medical assessment remains the responsibility of an appropriate clinician.

Parent support and practical guidance

The caregiver can explain what she is doing, share practical observations, and help parents practise routines. The goal is to make the family feel more capable, not dependent.

Parents remain the primary decision-makers unless a clinician has provided a medical instruction that must be followed.

Care boundaries

A newborn caregiver does not:

  • Diagnose illness

  • Prescribe or change medication

  • Replace a paediatrician, midwife, or lactation consultant

  • Perform an undeclared clinical procedure

  • Make major care decisions without the parent

  • Provide emergency medical care

Tell DarDoc before booking if your baby needs medication administration, tube feeding, oxygen support, wound care, monitoring, or another clinical intervention. The team must understand the requirement before confirming whether the service is suitable.
