Preparation begins before the nurse arrives. Follow any instructions for the selected drip because some protocols may have specific requirements.
Unless your care team tells you otherwise
Drink water in the hours before the visit
Have a light meal
Avoid arriving very hungry after prolonged fasting
Wear clothing that gives easy access to your arms
Choose a clean, comfortable space with good lighting
Keep your identification and booking details available
Keep a list of medicines, supplements, allergies, and conditions
Allow enough uninterrupted time for the session
If you have difficult veins or needle anxiety
Tell DarDoc in advance and tell the nurse on arrival. Hydration, warmth, position, and calm breathing can help. Do not apply numbing products unless the clinical team has said they are appropriate.
Avoid alcohol or hard training immediately beforehand
Alcohol, dehydration, heat, and intense exercise can affect how you feel and may make cannulation or recovery less comfortable. Ask for protocol-specific guidance if the booking relates to recovery after an event.
Prepare the environment
Keep pets and unnecessary movement away from the procedure area. Arrange water, a phone charger, and anything else you need so you can stay seated and monitored.
Report changes
Tell DarDoc if you develop fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, a new rash, a new medicine, a recent procedure, or another health change before the visit. Do not hide a change because you want the appointment to proceed.
Check the selected protocol on the live IV page for any additional preparation instructions.
