These effects often settle with simple care. Follow the nurse’s instructions and avoid repeatedly pressing, scratching, or applying unapproved products to the site.

Pain that is worsening rather than improving
Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, or discharge
A hard or tender vein
Persistent numbness or altered sensation
Symptoms that began during the drip and continue afterward
A reaction you are unsure how to assess
Seek emergency care for
Difficulty breathing
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Chest pain
Loss of consciousness or severe faintness
A severe or rapidly spreading rash
Confusion, seizure, or signs of stroke
Any rapidly worsening symptom
Call 998 or go to the nearest emergency department for a medical emergency. Do not wait for a support response.
How to report a concern
Share your name, booking reference, selected drip, the time symptoms began, what you are experiencing, and clear photos of the cannula site when relevant. Do not delay emergency care to collect documentation.
